Teacher of the Year

The teacher of the year  2007-2008 is Mr. Darin Rice.  Mr. Rice was also selected as District 50 Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

Mr. Rice is a graduate of Battery Creek High School in Beaufort, SC and a graduate of the College of Charleston with a BS degree in Biology.  Before beginning his teaching career, he worked as an environmental analyst.  He also holds a BS degree in Exercise Science from Lander University.  Mr. Rice began his teaching experience on the middle school level as a teacher and coach at Brewer Middle.  He coached football and basketball and is currently the boy’s soccer coach for Brewer.

 

Mr. Rice came to GFRCC in 2005 to begin Project Lead the Way.  He is currently teaching Introduction to Engineering, Principles of Engineering, and Digital Electronics.  Next year, he will also be teaching Biotechnical Engineering.

The G. F. Russell Career Center’s First Year Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Amy Holland.  Mrs. Holland teaches Health Science Technology I.  Before beginning her teaching career, she was an operating room nurse.  Mrs. Holland chose to teach so that she could share her love for nursing and help prepare young people for a career in the nursing field.  In her spare time she enjoys fishing, hiking and crafts.  Mrs. Holland is married and has three children.
